PC upgrade: Asrock Z87 Extreme4 + Intel Xeon e3-1230v3

Finally I have moved from i3-2100. As you can read from the title my new motherboard and cpu are Asrock z87 Extreme 4 and Intel Xeon E3-1230v3.

Guys, don't ask why I choosed e3 over i7, the answer is very simple, e3 is 120$ cheaper in here.

The motherboard has all of the necessary features including 3xPCI-E, SLI and CrossFire support.

You can find all of the motherboard details here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z87%20Extreme4/

Intel Xeon E3-130v3 is a server processor without GPU, but you can use it for desktop as well.

CPU details can be found here: http://ark.intel.com/products/75054/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E3-1230-v3-8M-Cache-3_30-GHz

In CINEBENCH E3-1230v3 scores 7.54 pts, with some background running process. On clean windows I get 7.62 pts.

I have not detected any compatible issues so far.

I have thw Z87 Asrock Extreme 4 motherboard with the latest bios update with the E3-1231 V3, can only get 2 of my cores running at x38,

Hope to understand why this is happening.

Someone else has the same issue with a Z97 MSI Motherboard as well (Link below).

Laurence, hey :)

You are referencing same website. I also was not able to run e3-1231v3 @ 3.8 ghz on all four cores.
